The Last Tango in Halifax star is set to headline Hulu and Disney+'s upcoming comedy-drama Alice and Steve, which the streaming giant has dubbed the "ultimate wrong-com" and a "must-watch", reports the Mirror.
Walker portrays mother Alice, who is left heartbroken when her 26 year old daughter Izzy (played by Yali Topol Margalith) begins a romance with her closest friend Steve (Jemaine Clement).
Alice pulls out all the stops to sabotage the budding relationship between the pair, acutely aware that she stands to lose both her daughter and her best friend in one fell swoop.
Yet Steve is no pushover and is more than prepared to fight back as their once-cherished friendship descends into an "all-out feud", according to Disney+.
A synopsis for the series goes on to state: "A hilarious, messy, and complicated exploration of friendship, family, and love, Alice and Steve is an anti-romantic comedy that asks the question, how far would you go for love - or revenge?
"Will Alice forgive Steve? Will Steve and Izzy make a relationship work? Amongst all the questions hanging in the balance, one thing is certain; their lives will never be the same again."
Alongside Walker, Flight of the Conchords star Clement and Margalith of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder fame, Alice and Steve boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Our Flag Means Death and Twenty Twelve star Joel Fry as Daniel, Tyrese Eaton-Dyce from Sherwood, The Crown's Marcia Warren, Dope Girls actress Eilidh Fisher, and Ebony Aboagye from The Conjuring: Last Rites.
The series comprises six half-hour episodes set to arrive on Disney+ this summer for viewers to enjoy.
Alice and Steve represents one of Walker's more light-hearted roles following her dramatic turns in Unforgotten, River, and Annika.
The show has been crafted by Sophie Goodhart, who previously contributed to Sex Education, and originates from Clerkenwell Films, the production company behind Netflix's phenomenal hit Baby Reindeer.
Direction duties have fallen to Tom Kingsley, who previously helmed Channel 4's beloved sitcom Stath Lets Flats.
The show will have its world premiere at Canneseries 2026 later this year.
