A professional dancer has opened up on her terrifying experience after being involved in a plane crash that killed two people. Dancing with the Stars pro Charlotte Jørgensen was on the Air Canada Jazz flight that landed in New York’s LaGuardia airport before colliding with a fire engine on the runway, killing its two pilots Antoine Forest and Mackenzie Gunther.

41 passengers were injured in the collision, including one flight attendant whose survival was considered a “miracle” after both of her legs were shattered in the impact, which also fractured her spine. The pilots were hailed as “heroes” after trying to reverse thrust “at the last second”, which likely saved lives of passengers.

Now Strictly Come Dancing US star Charlotte has opened up about the experience of surviving the flight, sharing an image of the wrecked plane on her Instagram grid.

She wrote: “A week ago tonight, after a fabulous weekend in Montreal, I boarded Air Canada 8646 bound for LaGuardia NYC. By now, probably most of you have heard of the collision that happened with a firetruck on the runway.

“I owe my life to two brave souls – Captain Antoine Forest and First Officer Mackenzie Gunther. They made the ultimate sacrifice so that we all could live… I am indebted to them and my thoughts are with their families.”

She added: “On the night I felt nothing as adrenaline was rushing through my body, but the days after have been rough – physically, mentally and emotionally.

“I am at home now, and Nelson and Vivianna are taking good care of me. I will be taking time to heal. I am grateful for all the love I have received and I send you all an extra warm hug.

“Thank you to my Dancing with the Stars family for your care and concern.”

She was quickly supported by fans in the comments section, with one posting: “I’m so glad to hear that you’re safe. Sending you love.”
