Singing superstar Celine Dion has paid an emotional tribute to a TV and radio legend who sadly died this week. My Heart Will Go On songstress Celine, 57, took to Instagram on Sunday (March 22) to share a photograph of Rodger Brulotte, who often played golf with her late husband René Angélil, and who has sadly died aged 79.

Writing in French, Celine wrote: “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Rodger Brulotte. René and I met him several times, and it was always a pleasure. René and Rodger were longtime friends and shared a passion for golf.

“We lost a great journalist, and I want to offer my deepest condolences to his companion, Pascale, as well as to his family and relatives.”

The broadcaster died after a short cancer battle, after undergoing spinal surgery to remove a tumour from his back. Sadly the cancer came back, and Baseball Québec's general manager Maxime Lamarche announced his death yesterday (March 21).

In his statement, he said: “Rodger had a very big heart, and he used it selflessly in service of others.

“His generosity touched generations of players, coaches, and volunteers. We will remember him as a unifying and deeply humane man."

Another echoed: “So sorry for the loss of your friend. May he rest in peace.”

It comes just a day after Celine paid tribute to her late mother on what would have been her birthday.

The singer wrote: “Mom. You gave me life, my first song, and along with Dad you passed on to me the love of music that still drives me today.

“But above all, you instilled in me the values that guide me every day: family, humility and the importance of staying true to myself.

“I always think of you, but especially today, and I realise how lucky I am to be your daughter. Happy birthday!”
