Penny Lancaster says she and Sir Rod Stewart “lay it on thick” as she opened up about their sex life. The former model met the Maggie May singer in 1999 while she was photographing him on tour.
Having spent the last quarter of a decade together, Penny says the couple are still in their “honeymoon” period. In fact, she told The Sun that their relationship “gets better as time goes on”. Penny, who became Rod’s third wife in 2011, says their marriage has become “more spiritual and intimate” as the years have passed.

She said: “Rod and I are very, very romantic. We like dressing up for each other — Rod takes great care with his appearance which I think is very sexy.”
The 55-year-old says she also finds it sexy that Rod “doesn’t have a lazy bone in his body”. She also appreciates that the iconic singer “doesn’t take himself too seriously”.
As for the secret to their lasting relationship, Penny says the couple like to “spoil each other”. She highlights their last wedding anniversary that saw the couple retrace the steps they took on their wedding day.
They took a train ride from Paris in France to Portofino in Italy. Rod, 81, popped the question to Penny in Paris before the couple tied the knot in Portofino in a private ceremony on a yacht before a reception at a monastery.

Penny says the couple “love reminiscing” about the time they’ve spent together as well as making plans for more “romantic trips”. She said: “We lay it on thick. The more romantic it is, the better.
“We have such a great connection on every level — there’s such an energy between us.”
Dad-of-eight Rod has previously opened up about how the pair like to show affection to each other. He explained they have regular sex and like to share a goodnight kiss whenever they are together.
He also praised Penny, who he shares sons Alastair and Aiden together, for being a “great mum”. The crooner appreciates that Penny “doesn’t take any nonsense” from him.

Penny has previously revealed she gave reformed lothario Rod a huge ultimatum during the early days of their relationship. It came after he was photographed with model Caprice Bourret after they had been on a few dates together.
Penny says she told Rod: “If you want to date all these women go ahead, but just so we're clear it's not for me." After laying down more ground rules Rod replied: "Okay, lets give it go."
He then added: "But don't think that you're going to be the next Mrs Stewart. I don't want to get married and I don't want anymore babies."
Penny however told Rod that at “some point down the line” she will want to have a child together. She got her way in 2011 when they welcomed their first son, Alastair, into the world.
Loose Women panellist Penny is this morning appearing on James Martin’s Saturday Morning from 9.30am on ITV One. She will be joined by singer Alfie Boe and chefs Paul Rankin and Shivi Ramoutar.
