Michael Caine previously revealed that in scenes where he has to be emotional he uses a unpsetting memory that makes him cry in "seconds". The legendary film actor was asked about his acting techniques an interview with GQ back in 2010 as he promoted gritty revenge thriller Harry Brown (2009).

In the film, Caine plays the title role, a widowed Royal Navy veteran and pensioner living on a housing estate in London that's been taken over by a gang of thugs. After his friend is murdered by a violent gang, Harry decides to take them on himself.

The film showcases the 93-year-old acting legend's well-established action roles as well as his ability to show heartbreaking vulnerability on screen.

Asked about how he mastered the technique of breaking down for the camera, he told the outlet: "Well, I'm a method actor. So if ever I have to cry, I have a particular incident that I've never told anyone, including my wife, that can make me cry in ten seconds."

He added: "If I ever retired from acting I'd tell her, and if I did she'd burst into tears herself."

One fan of the film wrote on IMDb that Caine is "masterful as always" in the film, which "gives him an opportunity to show off his incredible range credibly, from fragile pathos and sorrow to hard unrelenting man in the field you do not want to cross".

Another said Caine's Brown is "a steely character who keeps it all bottled in, but there are cracks in his armor and there are times when it all comes down."

They said the portrayal is a "masterpiece of understated performance".

A third wrote: "The emotion conveyed simply through his eyes are something that young actors should watch and imitate. He is always fascinating to watch."

Caine's film career spans eight decades and includes all-time classics like The Italian Job and Alfie. He has appeared in more than 160 movies to date.
