TalkTV presenter Jeremy Kyle addressed the latest debacle as royal biographer Andrew Lownie addressed Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie's futures. The York sisters have kept low profiles ever since their father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was arrested on suspicion of public misconduct on his 66th birthday. He has not been charged, and the inquiry remains active. However, his daughters may be forced to step back from royal life, according to the royal biographer and historian.

Host Jeremy addressed reports the princesses "want to keep their titles" amid the former Prince Andrew's scandal. The biographer claimed the sisters should "renounce" their royal status but suggested that is unlikely to happen.

Speaking on the programme on March 8, the royal biographer said, "I think one of the reasons they swan around the Middle East all of the time because that's one area where they can monetise their royal position.

Andrew has always been keen for them to be working royals and have police protection when they didn't need it."

Lownie suggested part of the former prince's decision to leave Royal Lodge would also be on the basis Beatrice and Eugenie would always have royal protection.

"I think William is now slightly more dominant in this whole debate and he's saying, 'No, no, no... this is more reuptational damage. We need to cut loose," Lownie claimed.

He added, "I think the wise thing for them would be to renounce their titles and quietly go under a stone but I don't think they're going to do that."

Jeremy then asked: "Do you think Prince William is calling the shots on this?"

Lownie agreed: "Absolutely. There is no love lost between the Wales's and the York's. I think he can see the reputational damage. It's extraordinary. The Royal Family always do too little too late.

"He wants to get ahead of the story because William has to pick up the pieces."

Meanwhile, it has been reported Beatrice and Eugenie still have royal residences.

The sisters, who both primarily reside outside London, pay an undisclosed sum of rent to the King in order to retain their second homes. Beatrice has an apartment in St James’s Palace and Eugenie has Ivy Cottage, a property at Kensington Palace.

Beatrice primarily lives in Oxfordshire with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and daughters, Sienna and Athena.

Eugenie lives in Portugal with her husband Jack Brooksbank and their children, August and Ernest.
