Celebrity homes have long fascinated fans, offering a glimpse into their private worlds. For music icon Elton John, that personality extends to his long-time residence near Windsor Castle.

The legendary singer boasts a career stretching over 50 years. According to Celebrity Net Worth, the musician possesses a net worth of $650million (£512million), allowing him to acquire properties around the world. Whilst owning residences globally, Windsor has remained Elton's primary base.

His estate is located in Old Windsor, bordering Windsor Great Park, and reportedly encompasses more than 30 acres of grounds. Whilst interior photographs remain closely guarded, aerial perspectives reveal an expansive property featuring tennis courts and extensive manicured gardens.

Elton has described his Woodside residence as "the hub", which he is understood to have acquired for £400,000 in 1974. He also characterises the mansion, which features an extended tree-lined approach, as "tastefully over the top".

However, the estate is now said to be worth £4.2 million, according to Hello Magazine. After moving in during the 1980s, Elton previously revealed he wanted to level up his home.

Speaking to Architectural Digest in 2000, he revealed: "When I came out of rehab 10 years ago, I realised that life is so much more beautiful than my house reflected.

"I wanted a normal life, a traditional country house, and Andrew Protheroe and Adrian Cooper-Grigg created that for me at Woodside.

"Ever since then, I've always had a decorating project underway, and because I always want to do more, each house is a work in progress. If I weren't a musician, I would love to be a decorator."

Old Windsor sits less than two miles from Windsor town centre and enjoys close proximity to Windsor Farm Shop and Windsor Great Park. Whilst Windsor itself attracts numerous visitors, Old Windsor offers fewer attractions and consequently remains more peaceful.

It does nevertheless boast some excellent pubs and dining establishments alongside beautiful surroundings. Average property prices in the locality currently sit at £627,518, according to Rightmove.

Most properties sold in Old Windsor over the past year were semi-detached homes, achieving an average price of £577,542. Detached properties commanded an average of £930,750, whilst terraced houses reached £451,000.

Overall, historical sale prices in Old Windsor during the past year fell six percent compared to the previous year, whilst rising four percent above the 2021 peak of £603,767.

In a recent interview with Variety, it was revealed that Elton John splits his time between his homes in the UK and Los Angeles, where he lives with his husband, David Furnish, and their two children, Zachary, 15, and Elijah, 13.

However, the 78-year-old music legend disclosed last year that he has had a "challenging" period since losing sight in his right eye in the summer of 2024.

His partner, David, shared with Variety last year: "He's great. He's battling on. He's keeping busy and moving forward. He's happy being at home as a family with our sons.

"That's why he came off the road. We really love parenting, we love our family, and we love being together, and that's everything for us."

The musician is still working and is said to be continuing to produce his Rocket Hour radio show on Apple Music and remains involved in the Elton John AIDS Foundation. He is also scheduled to headline Rock in Rio on September 7, 2026.
