Outlander's eighth and final season has at last landed on screens, with devoted fans eagerly devouring the opening episode, titled Soul of a Rebel, as curiosity surrounding the Fraser family tree continues to grow.
The debut episode saw Jamie (played by Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser (Caitríona Balfe) making their way back to Fraser's Ridge following his permanent departure from the Continental Army, reports the Daily Record.

Kieran Bew makes his Outlander debut in season eight as the mysterious Captain Charles Cunningham, a former British Army soldier who served during the American Revolutionary War before laying down his weapons.
Bew is a familiar face on screen, having appeared in a considerable number of television programmes and films.
Among his most notable recent appearances was the role of Hugh in the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon.
His extensive CV also includes Cold Feet, The Bill, HBO's Warrior, Da Vinci's Demons, Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands, and Silent Witness.
Carla Woodcock takes on the role of Lady Amaranthus Grey, who has wed William Ransom's (Charles Vandervaart) cousin Ben.
Woodcock's previous credits include Free Rein, Emmerdale, Ackley Bridge as Marina Perry, Tell Me Everything, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder and Such Brave Girls.

Northern Irish star Frances Tomelty takes on the role of the formidable Elspeth Cunningham, bringing with her an impressive acting pedigree that includes Silent Witness, Call the Midwife, The Woman in the Wall, Catastrophe, All Creatures Great and Small, The Death of Bunny Munro, and Karen Pirie alongside Outlander co-star Lauren Lyle.
Harry Jarvis steps into the role of Henry Grey, yet another of William's cousins.
The actor is perhaps most recognisable from his appearances in The Knight Before Christmas alongside Vanessa Hudgens and Josh Whitehouse, Proven Innocent, The Dead Girls Detective Agency, Queens, and Dixi.
Young talent Benjamin Moss takes on the role of Henri-Christian Fraser, one of the offspring of Marsali (Lyle) and Fergus Fraser (César Domboy).
As previously noted, returning cast members including Heughan and Balfe will be reprising their beloved roles as ill-fated lovers Jamie and Claire Fraser.
Further returning Outlander favourites include Richard Rankin as Roger MacKenzie, Sophie Skelton as Brianna MacKenzie, Lauren Lyle as Marsali Fraser, César Domboy as Fergus Fraser, David Berry as Lord John Grey, Charles Vandervaart as William Ransom, John Bell as Young Ian Murray, and Izzy Meikle-Small as Rachel Hunter.
A number of guest stars are also anticipated to make appearances throughout the 10-episode series.
Outlander season 8 will premiere on Starz in the USA on March 6 and on MGM+ via Prime Video in the UK on March 7
