CNN reporter Erin Burnett had to rush to a shelter when she was delivering the news directly from Tel Aviv, in Israel. The American news anchor had to seek cover when sirens could be heard blaring across the city as the conflict between Israel, the US and Iran, which started on Saturday, continued.

Burnett and her film crew had to go inside quickly and kept the cameras rolling during the terrifying moment. They continued live broadcasting inside a concrete fortified shelter, with the star explaining: "In the past couple of minutes... We are talking to you from a stairwell and we are doing that because there were sirens and we just heard several large close explosions."

She was speaking in the shelter with Ophir Falk, who is a senior foreign policy advisor to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, at 2.30am on Wednesday.

Falk explained: "Thanks for having me here. This is the difference between them and us. They target our civilians, and they are targeting us right now, and we target the terrorists.

"That's the difference... That's exactly why we have to remove the threat posed by this ayatollah regime. That's what we are going to do."

Earlier today, Iran launched a fresh wave of attacks toward Israel, which followed new Israeli strikes targeting the Iranian-backed group Hezbollah in Beirut.

CNN viewers took to social media to share their concerns as Burnett's interview aired. One wrote: "Be careful, Erin. I still get stressed when I remember you racing to get to the border of Poland at the start of the Russian war. And here you are again."

A second added: "Life and limb to report these kinds of stories, Erin. Please stay safe." A third echoed: "Hey, Erin! Get the hell outta there!"

More than 1,000 civilians have been killed in Iran, including more than 180 children, according to US-based organisations. As it stands, six American troops have been killed since the conflict began on Saturday.
