Countryfile presenter Michaela Strachan has revealed she's come to terms with certain physical limitations. The 59-year-old has discussed how ageing has affected her body and how her attitude towards it has changed over time.

Michaela, who suffered a torn hamstring during her stint on Dancing on Ice, acknowledged her body required considerable time to recover from the injury. Additionally, she's recognised that whilst some individuals maintain full mobility well into later life, she may not be amongst them. Speaking to Closer UK, she said: "It's so important to keep moving as you get older. I had an accident when I took part in Dancing On Ice and it too my body a long time to heal. It's made me respect my body more than ever and it's also been very frustrating because I wasn't able to do a lot of those things I love as much as I wanted to. I'm definitely not as supple as I once was, despite doing yoga, and I've made peace with the fact that I probably won't ever be able to do the splits again," reports the Mirror.

"Angela Rippon is amazing and I love that she can still do them, but I think those days are behind me!"

This isn't the first time that Michaela has discussed her wellbeing, with the Springwatch host previously addressing how the menopause impacted her life, including during her Dancing On Ice appearance which occurred whilst she was experiencing post menopause.

Discussing the subject with the i she said: "I'm not a naturally anxious person, but that show coincided with me going through post menopause. Michaela revealed that her response was to become more introspective, a behaviour that stood in stark contrast to younger skaters. She explained: "I noticed that when the younger people were nervous, they became quite loud – chatting and laughing more noisily. I did the exact opposite."

Alongside navigating the post-menopause, Michaela recently disclosed her second cancer scare. Following her breast cancer diagnosis in 2014, she has now revealed that she faced another health concern after viewers spotted a lump on her throat whilst she was broadcasting live.

During an interview on the How to Be 60 with Kaye Adams podcast, she recalled: "I did have a second scare, which was extraordinary, because I was doing Springwatch and I had a few people after the show message me and say, 'did you know you've got a lump on your throat?' I was like, 'have I?'

"I was watching the show back in bed - because I'm slightly geeky like that, I've always watched the live show back - and I thought, 'oh my god, I do - I've got a lump'."

Thankfully for Michaela, medical examinations of the lump subsequently confirmed it to be a benign cyst which doctors were able to drain.
