The Foreign Office has urged Brits living in Dubai to register their presence now following strikes by Iran. A warning on the FCDO urged British nationals in the UAE to tell the UK government of their whereabouts through the official registration service, due to "reported missile attacks".

The individual will then receive FCDO travel advice updates to their phone and email, and it will allow the UK Government to know how many nationals are abroad. People can only register if they hold a UK passport. British Nationals have also been urged to register their presence if they are in Qatar, following missile attacks.

The UK Government advised against all but essential travel to the UAE and Qatar yesterday, following Iran's strikes on the countries.

The FCDO warned: "Due to reported missile attacks, British nationals in the UAE should immediately shelter in place. Remain indoors in a secure location, avoid all travel and follow instructions from the local authorities."

On Sunday, one person was confirmed dead and 11 were injured at airports in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Authorities in Abu Dhabi confirmed a drone targeting Zayed International Airport (AUH) was intercepted, leading to "falling debris" that killed one person and injured seven. Authorities said Dubai International Airport (DXB) was damaged in an "incident" that injured four staff.

Two iconic hotels in Dubai were also struck by falling debris following intercepted missiles and drones from Iran, authorities confirmed. The Fairmont Hotel on Palm Jumeirah and the iconic Burj Al Arab in Dubai were struck.

The FCDO warned that, with a "heightened risk of regional tension", British nationals should take sensible precautions, including staying away from areas around security or military facilities.

It added: "If you are advised to take shelter, stay indoors or find the nearest safe building or designated shelter. An interior stairwell or a room with as few external walls or windows as possible may provide additional protection."
