Ruth Langsford was in tears during a recent interview as the ITV presenter opened up about her marriage split from Eamonn Holmes. The presenter fronted This Morning alongside Eamonn from 2006 to 2021, with the pair announcing their split in 2024 after 27 years together. The 60 year old revealed she was left devastated after their 14 year marriage came to an "abrupt end". The Loose Women presenter is currently single while her former husband has since found love again with girlfriend Katie Alexander.

The former pair started dating in 1996, and married in 2010, and they share 23-year-old son Jack. Ruth has now confessed she was left blindsided by her split from Eamonn. At the time of their separation, those closest to the broadcaster urged her to remove her wedding ring.

During an interview with Daily Mail, Ruth began to cry, saying: "It’s been almost two years since we announced our separation, but it feels like two months to me."

The presenter soon made a tragic admission as she came to the realisation the marriage was over.

She told the publication: "I had to give myself a good talking to because I was catastrophising: I’m going to be on my own, I don’t have a partner, what am I going to do?

I was literally asking, 'What’s going to become of me?', like some sad, lonely woman in a Jane Austen novel."

Ruth added, "But then age and experience told me, 'Ruth, you’re not going to die from this. I mean you are going to die, one day, but you’re not going to die from divorce.'"

The former This Morning host said she and Eamonn had enjoyed a happy marriage so their split came as a "huge shock" even to her.

"I just didn’t think I’d find myself here, and I wasn’t strong at the start. I was broken. Broken heart. Broken dreams," she remarked.

"We all have an image of how we think our life and future is going to be. This wasn’t mine. I was devastated."

Ruth's memoir, Feeling Fabulous, will be released on Thursday as she talks about her own struggles and how she has bounced back through all of life's ups and downs.
