Ruth Langsford has opened up about the moment she considered having a second child with her estranged husband Eamonn Holmes, who was less than enthusiastic about the prospect. The Loose Women panellist shares son Jack, 23, with Eamonn, who she separated with in 2024 after nearly three decades together.

Breaking her silence on the split in a candid new interview, Ruth disclosed that expanding their family was something she had originally hoped for. Reflecting on the moment she broached the subject with Eamonn, who already had three children from a previous relationship, she said: "I remember looking at Jack being cute and I said, 'Should we have another one?' Eamonn just went, 'Jesus, really? Four kids!'," she told Daily Mail's Weekend Magazine. Ruth added: "He didn't say no, it just stopped me in my tracks. I thought, 'You know what, Ruth, don't push your luck, you're 42, you conceived naturally, had a good pregnancy and a healthy baby. Be grateful.'

"But yes, in another life I saw myself with more."

In the revealing interview, Ruth also confessed that her separation from Eamonn left her "devastated", calling it a "huge shock".

Her confessions coincide with the upcoming release of her tell-all memoir, Feeling Fabulous, due out next week, which promises to explore "the ups, the downs and the lessons that have shaped her".

Ruth and Eamonn tied the knot in 2010, becoming a beloved daytime television duo, making their split all the more surprising to devoted fans. Ruth is currently single and has confessed she isn't prepared to embark on a fresh relationship following the end of her marriage.

She previously said: "I’m not ready for a new partner, I haven’t healed from the last one. But I haven’t been put off men, relationships or love," she said.

"I haven’t even been put off marriage. I have not become a bitter old man-hater but right now I’m just living my own life and seeing where it takes me. I’m on a different path."

Meanwhile, Eamonn swiftly moved on with relationship counsellor Katie Alexander, with the couple making their romance public in mid-2024.
