Ruth Langsford has revealed she was left in tears after making a "big" decision, following her split from Eamonn Holmes. The former This Morning presenters shocked fans when they announced their separation in May 2024, a decade after tying the knot.
After confirming the split, the presenter took an extended break from work and chose not to address the situation when she returned to the Loose Women panel.
In the weeks that followed, Ruth was still seen wearing her wedding ring, prompting questions from fans. After one eagle-eyed follower asked why she hadn’t removed it, she replied: "Because I’m still married."
In a new interview, Ruth revealed she had given the same response to close friends who repeatedly asked about the ring - up until last May.

After friends encouraged her to take it off, she admitted she broke down in tears as the reality of the situation hit her.
"I was crying my eyes out because it’s a big thing, isn’t it," she told The Daily Mail’s Weekend Magazine.
"It’s one of those moments of acceptance. Wow. That’s it. I’m not married any more. I’m getting divorced."
During the same conversation, the 65-year-old insisted she was blindsided by Eamonn's apparent decision to bring their marriage to an end.
"In my opinion, I had a very happy marriage," she added.

"Of course you question yourself, did I miss something, was I not aware, was I too busy? But there’s no point playing the blame game.
"I just didn’t think I’d find myself here, and I wasn't strong at the start. I was broken. Broken heart. Broken dreams.
"We all have an image of how we think our life and future is going to be. This wasn’t mine. I was devastated."
This May marks two years since their split was announced, though Ruth said it feels as though only "two months" have passed.

Since the upheaval in her personal life, she has thrown herself into work and focused on spending more quality time with family and friends, including her TV son Rylan Clark.
While Eamonn has moved forward in a new relationship with Katie Alexander, Ruth says dating is not on her agenda just yet.
"I’m not ready for a new partner, I haven’t healed from the last one. But I haven’t been put off men, relationships or love," she said.
"I haven’t even been put off marriage. I have not become a bitter old man-hater but right now I’m just living my own life and seeing where it takes me. I’m on a different path."
