Presenter Charlotte Hawkins has opened up on what life at ITV is really like since the broadcaster made a number of changes. One thing that was switched up was the studio space for Good Morning Britain.
From January 5, the breakfast programme moved to a new, smaller, and modernised studio at the ITN headquarters on Gray's Inn Road in London from its former home at The Television Centre. GMB is now also produced by ITV News, with the editorial team, production staff, and broadcasters integrated into the ITN operation. Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk at the TV Choice Awards red carpet in London on Monday evening, Charlotte reflected on how the changes have impacted her. She said: "I get up slightly earlier than usual, but other than that it's mostly business as usual.
"I had some time off. So I worked all of the way up until Christmas and then had some time off in January, so I was like 'lovely, I'll leave everyone else to find out how it all works in the new studio'.
"So, I was in just last week when I finally got around to seeing how it will work for me. It was nice to see everyone again, and we are so proud of the show, you know?"
She added: "It feels a bit like when you're moving house. There is a lot to unpack, and it can take a while to get yourself settled but we have been up and running straight away, so it's all looking good."
Charlotte has been a staple of the ITV breakfast programme since its launch in 2014 after she left Sky News. But with the changes in effect, her job role specifically has also had a bit of a shake-up.
She is now reading the news across the day, with a presenting role on News at Ten and also the lunchtime slot.
Back in September, an insider told the press: "Charlotte will read the news across the schedule.
"She'll still read on GMB but also the lunchtime, evening and News at Ten. It's a major change because she was solely contracted for GMB."
