Leicester-based JM Wholesale, a major UK distributor of vaping and CBD products, has been put into administration after a notice was filed on March 20.

The filing was made through law firm Shakespeare Martineau, with Christopher Lewis and Chris Newell of Quantuma appointed as administrators.

The company sells a wide range of items including vape devices, e-liquids, disposable vapes and nicotine pouches, claiming a catalogue of more than 15,000 products. JM Wholesale’s website currently states it is not accepting orders and is undergoing maintenance.

The firm’s most recent accounts, for the year ending February 2025, list 47 employees.

No further details have been published about the reasons for the administration or the company’s immediate plans. Staff and suppliers have not yet been publicly briefed beyond the formal notice.

Founded in 2017 by university students who wanted better-quality products online, JM Wholesale expanded rapidly.

In 2021 it moved to a larger Leicester premises and added around 30 staff, with management at the time saying they planned to occupy the site for the coming decade. The company was an early mainstream CBD wholesaler in the UK and won several industry awards in 2022, including recognition for vape and CBD distribution and wholesale innovation.

The administration comes months after the UK introduced a ban on single-use vapes, a policy aimed at cutting environmental waste and reducing youth nicotine uptake.

Observers will be watching for any wider impact on wholesalers and the vaping supply chain as the market adjusts.
