James Morrison appears to have begun dating once more, 18 months following the tragic suicide of his wife, Gill Catchpole. The musician and his late spouse had two daughters together, and she was discovered deceased at the age of 45 in their Gloucestershire residence in January 2024. Morrison, who discovered his wife after a friend was unable to access the property, revealed that losing his partner left him feeling "completely heartbroken".
However, following what he has described as the most challenging chapter of his existence, the Broken Strings performer appears to have discovered joy once again with travel blogger Mariel Jones. She has shared numerous photographs of herself alongside Morrison on her Instagram account, featuring images from getaways to Rome, Sicily and Copenhagen. In a single photograph from July, the pair can be seen embracing in Italy. Companions of the blogger have written "cuties" beneath her uploads, reports the Mirror.
James first appears on Mariel's Instagram last July in a picture taken at the Beat-Herder Festival in Lancashire, with their arms around one another.
Mariel, who calls herself an "adventurer" has shared pictures of herself and James as far back as July last year, and two months ago, they passionately kissed while on a romantic trip to Rome.
This appears to mark a fresh beginning for the artist, who had been with Catchpole for over twenty years. During an appearance on the White Wine Question Time podcast, Morrison described their romance as resembling a "fairy tale", explaining how he had been a tenant in her mother's residence.
"It wasn't the easiest start," he confessed, "but I still see it as really romantic... the fact that we met each other the way we did. It's like a little fairy tale."
