Drivers on the A13 are facing major delays after a nine-vehicle crash near Dagenham in East London. Eight cars and one lorry collided on the eastbound carriageway between Ripple Road and Marsh Way at around 9am on Friday. A lane remains closed for recovery work. One person is currently in hospital but their condition is not yet known. Drivers have been advised to avoid the area while an investigation into the incident is carried out by emergency services.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "One fire engine from Wennington fire station was called to a road traffic collision involving eight vehicles and one lorry on the A13 eastbound carriageway, between Ripple Road and Marsh Way in Dagenham, this morning. The Brigade’s 999 Control officers took the first call at 0857 and the incident was over by 0928. No one was trapped. The eastbound carriageway remains closed so motorists are advised to avoid the area."
