The body of an 80-year-old man has been found on a popular UK beach following a major search operation.
Police, coastguard and ambulance crews combed the coast of Sidmouth Beach in Devon after a person was spotted on the rocks, according to reports.
A lifeboat eventually recovered a man's body on the seafront near Jacobs Ladder. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Exmouth Police said: "A person was recovered by Sidmouth Independent Lifeboat's 'Speedy Sid' inshore lifeboat, and was conveyed to Sidmouth beach but unfortunately had passed away. The family have been informed and our collective thoughts are with them at this difficult time."
