With the weather getting colder day by day, I need a change in my makeup routine and Sculpted by Aimee’s new Cream Cushion Foundation has got me excited about effortless autumn looks. For those not familiar with the Irish beauty brand, this new launch is inspired by Korean beauty and it's all about building layers and looking better with every touch up.

I got my hands on the pink compact in shade 2N and it's a "match made in heaven" to my olive warm skin tone. The compact case, which retails at £28, comes with a sponge pad for on-the-go touchups. It's also available for refill, which will be available in later months.

Founder Aimee Connolly described the new cushion foundation as a "tinted version of CloudCream" - a ceramide cream designed to soothe and restore skin barrier while locking in moisture for long-lasting comfort. The Cushion Foundation is packed with longwear polymers, niacinamide and glyercin while providing buildable coverage with a real-skin finish.

My love for cushion foundation started when I tried IOPE cushion foundation in 2008 and that's the one that kickstarted the trend, but since then a lot has changed - whether it's the foundation formula, compact design or the applicator. The Sculpted by Aimee Cushion Foundation is different than the ones I have used - it has a ultra-fine mesh that releases the perfect amount of product with every press.

Aimee shared a tip at the exclusive event: "If you are applying the foundation, at home, for the first time, I'd use a brush and the deeper you dip the brush in, the product you're getting and it gives you better coverage. And if you're out and about and want a quick touchup, I'd use the sponge that comes with the foundation. Give it a quick dab and you're good to go."

I agree that the foundation is light and buildable and I didn't feel like I was wearing any product The coverage is great, or at least, it worked in concealing my freckles under the eyes and minimising the appearance of pores on the cheeks.

To test the foundation, I only dabbed my forehead and under eye area with Charlotte Tilbury's Airbrush Flawless Finish powder and wore it for nine hours. Given my combination skin with problematic T-zone, the foundation started to wear off around mid-day. When I blotted, I saw patches of foundation on the tissue and that's when I had to do my touch-up.

With the sponge applicator, it solved the conundrum of finding a vanity bag that's big enough to fit a makeup brush. The compact is lightweight and slim - it's a bliss to use, and it definitely passed my DIY leak test when I tossed it numerous times trying to find other items in my tote bag.

But this could be an expensive purchase for the long run. The Sculpted by Aimee cushion foundation retails at £28 for 15g while Charlotte Tilbury's Airbush Flawless Foundation costs £39 for 30ml, and a Haus Lab foundation is priced at £42 for 30ml.

Other shoppers also shared their opinion online, with one saying: "I have found this extremely light and silky on the skin, it feels like I have nothing on which I absolutely love as I don't like the feeling of heaviness on my skin. Because of this, it's hard to get coverage on my typical Irish red prone skin."

Another said it's been her go-to foundation, adding: "So handy for throwing in the handbag and no brush needed for touch-ups."
