Prince Harry has been inching toward a royal reconciliation, taking it one step at a time, and he seems to be watching his words to make sure he doesn’t overcommit, says one royal expert.

Following his meeting with King Charles, Harry’s spokesperson released a statement saying the Duke hopes to be a part of the “functioning wider family again,” which could be interpreted in a number of ways.

We reached out to Emma Fabiani, who runs a Meghan Markle fanpage on Instagram, to ask her about what to expect.

Fabiani, who has amassed over 800,000 followers on Instagram, said: “On the possibility that Harry returns ‘part-time’ to the wider ‘functioning family,’ for now it is more an interpretation than a defined plan.”

She explained: “It is an intentionally flexible formula, useful to keep doors open without rigid commitments.”

Harry had a chance to sit down with his father, which is a step in the right direction, but a royal reconciliation isn’t going to happen overnight with more steps to come.

At this point in time, it’s not known if they will successfully reach a royal reconciliation, but if they do in fact get there, Fabiani doesn’t expect a big production.

She said: “In terms of reconciliation, I do not expect theatrical gestures. No balcony moments or staged photos: rather small, private steps, away from the spotlight, where people can really talk and listen.”

She added: “This is the kind of path I imagine and that many of my followers say they prefer: fewer symbols, more quiet actions.”
