A new royal has joined social media and royal fans could not be more excited. Alexandra, Countess of Frederiksborg, the former wife of Prince Joachim of Denmark, launched her new Instagram page earlier this month.
The Duchess was married to King Frederik's younger brother from 1995 until 2005, and they have two sons together, Count Nikolai and Count Felix. Joachim, who is now married to Princess Marie, has two other children, Count Henrik and Countess Athena.
Alexandra debuted her first Instagram post earlier this month after she received help with the photoshoot from her son, Nikolai.
In the video, Nikolai can be seen arranging the surprise photoshoot for his mother, with the Duchess captioning the post" I wanted to go on Instagram, but I had no idea where to start. So my amazing son @nikolaitildanmark arranged a surprise photoshoot for me. So here we are… and now we are live."
Her son was one of the firt to comment on her post, writing: "Good to see you on here finally."
Royal fans flocked to the comment section to wish her well on her Instagram debut and praise her offspring for arranging her surprise photoshoot.
One user wrote: "Finally!!!!!!!!!! It's my birthday today, and this is the gift I was not expecting!"
Another one added: "So beautiful and fantastic pictures - right in your [element]."
A third one said: "Wow, it’s such a joy to see you here! You go straight onto my favourites list."
Alexandra's sons are styled as counts and do not retain their royal titles following one of Queen Margrethe's decisions.
In a shock decision back in 2022, Queen Margrethe of Denmark decided four of her eight grandchildren (the children of Prince Joachim) would no longer hold royal titles.
This meant that from January 2023, Count Nikolai, Count Felix, Count Henrik and Countess Athena would not be styled as Prince or Princess and His/Her Highness but would remain in line to the throne.
