Maggie May icon Sir Rod Stewart took to social media with a thrilling announcement just weeks after bidding farewell to concertgoers after the end of his performance at Pine Knob Music Theatre in Detroit. Thankfully for fans, after a short break, the 80-year-old rocker will return to the stage as he issued a major career update on Instagram and revealed his Las Vegas residency has officially kicked off. Thousands of his fans took to the comments with elation and supported the star on his musical comeback.
Alongside a photo of himself on stage, Sir Rod declared: "My residency in Las Vegas kicks back off tonight! Can’t wait to be back at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace." This comes after his emotional post in August, in which he published after his final performance during his One Last Time tour for a one-hour 45-minute setlist. At the time, Sir Rod penned: "Sincere thanks to all my fans and friends who attended my show last night at Pine Knob… You were just fabulous, even through the rain! I couldn’t have asked for more. God bless all of you, and may you stay ‘Forever Young!’ - Sir Rod Stewart.”
Thousands took to the comments amid the exciting news of his Las Vegas residency and inundated the star with support.
This includes one fan, who praised: "I wish you a fantastic time in Las Vegas. I'm already looking forward to one of your concerts in Germany!"
Another echoed: "Love you,Rod! Have seen you at Caesar's Palace & your show is FANTASTIC! Anyone coming to Vegas should DEFINITELY see your show! This is a feel good, high energy, put a smile on your face performance."
"See you on Friday, I’m celebrating my 50th on the day of your number 1 sailing was number 1 in the UK," said a third.
One fan added: "Have a great night !!! Sir Rod !!!" As another shared: "Sir Rod... my wife and I will be at your show in Montevideo, Uruguay. The show will be on the same day we celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary."
Rod's Las Vegas residency is a welcome return to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace after he was forced to cancel two shows in the renowned Sin City earlier this year after being struck down with the flu.
Issuing the devastating health update in June, Sir Rod left fans emotional as he shared: "I’m awfully sorry to have to cancel my show June 5th at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. My doctor ordered a bit more rest while I recover from the flu. Thanks for your love and understanding - Rod."
Thankfully for concertgoers, the 80-year-old is seemingly back in good health and has no desire to retire.
Rod previously said: "I love what I do, and I do what I love. I’m fit, have a full head of hair and can run 100 metres in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79.
"I’d like to move onto a Great American Songbook, Swing Fever tour the year after next – smaller venues and more intimacy. But then again, I may not…"
