Sarah, Duchess of York has been pictured being driven out of Royal Lodge in Windsor after a charity severed ties with her following claims that she had apologised to paedophile Jeffrey Epstein after distancing herself from him.
The Duchess can be glimpsed in the back of a Range Rover as she leaves the home she shares with her ex-husband, Prince Andrew. The new images were released shortly after a Wiltshire-based children's hospice announced that it would be "inappropriate" for her to remain as their Patron.
Despite the latest update, a spokesperson for the Duchess declined to provide further comment.
According to The Sun and the Mail on Sunday, Sarah reportedly contacted the late paedophile a few weeks after she publicly declared that she would never contact him again. In an interview from March 2011, the Duchess apologised for having accepted £15,000 from Epstein.
The Duchess, who had been involved with the charity, Julia's House, since 2018, has not personally spoken out after her email to Epstein was published, however, her spokesperson issued a statement explaining that Sarah had been "taken in by his lies."
The statement read: “The Duchess spoke of her regret about her association with Epstein many years ago, and as they have always been, her first thoughts are with his victims. Like many people, she was taken in by his lies."
It continued: “As soon as she was aware of the extent of the allegations against him, she not only cut off contact but condemned him publicly, to the extent that he then threatened to sue her for defamation for associating him with paedophilia. She does not resile from anything she said then.
“This email was sent in the context of advice the Duchess was given to try to assuage Epstein and his threats.”
The message the Duchess reportedly sent saw her refer to the late financier as a "steadfast, generous and supreme friend."
It continued: “I was advised, in no uncertain terms, to have nothing to do with you and to not speak or email you. And if I did – I would cause more problems to you, the Duke and myself. I was broken and lost."
