A 16-year-old boy is being questioned on suspicion of raping a girl in the UK seaside holiday resort of Blackpool. Lancashire Police were called to the incident in Queens Promenade, just north of Blackpool town centre, shortly before 8pm on Saturday September 20th.
The public toilets at Gynn Square were cordoned off by officers with a scene put in place. The force said the traumatised girl was being supported by specially trained officers and are appealing for anyone with information to get in contact.
The boy, from Fleetwood, remains in custody for questioning and investigations are ongoing with a 'dedicated team of officers' assigned to the case.
In a statement, a force spokesperson said: "At 7.58pm on September 20 we were called to reports a teenager had been raped in Blackpool.
"Officers have attended and a scene has been put in place on Queens Promenade.
"The teenager is being supported by specially trained officers at this time.
"Following enquiries, a 16-year-old boy from Fleetwood has been arrested on suspicion of rape. He remains in custody at this time.
"We are at the early stage of our enquiries and a dedicated team of officers has been assigned to this case.
"Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting log 1204 of 20th September 2025."
