Beauty fans have praised a product from British dermatological skincare brand Medik8 after noticing what they say is a 'significant improvement' since using it.

The Advanced Pro-Collagen+ Peptide Cream, which costs £79 for 50ml, has been "expertly formulated to target deeper signs of skin ageing", the brand says. This anti-wrinkle moisturiser works to enhance facial contours in seven days.

Collagen is a protein in the body and is often described as the building block of healthy skin, hair, nails and bones. It's also often cited as being one of the many key factors to youthful-looking and healthy skin, including its efficiency in improving skin elasticity.

This cream is powered by a trio of advanced active ingredients, and helps to increase collagen production by 45%, Medik8 says. As part of Medik8's age-defying range, this cream works to "visibly improve skin firmness in seven days" and also helps with deep-set wrinkle reduction, aiming to reduce wrinkle depth in seven days.

This year Medik8, founded in 2009 by UK scientist Elliot Isaacs, was named the winner of two CEW Beauty Awards, including being awarded Best British Brand. They say the Advanced Pro-Collagen+ Peptide Cream has been formulated for day and night use, so can be layered under an SPF and make-up during the day, and at night it helps hydrate skin during sleeping. The brand recommends using it after cleansing in the morning and evening, with an application evenly across the neck, face and decolletage.

It has as one of its key ingredients NAD+, which is short for Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide, a coenzyme found in cells in the body. Medik8 says on its website: "Often described as a 'cellular battery,' it fuels essential processes such as energy production, DNA repair, inflammation regulation, and overall cellular health. All of which are critical for maintaining youthful, resilient-looking skin."

For beauty buffs wanting to shop around, Elemis' Pro-Collagen Night Cream is £115, on the steeper end of the budget, for 50ml. This cream helps significantly reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in 14 days, Elemis says. Infused with Sesame and Avocado Oils it works overnight to target the signs of ageing.

Another product to consider is Boots' Collagen Day Cream SPF30, which is £12 for 50ml. This cream is for day use, as its name implies and is described as being lightweight and non-greasy, while also having SPF30 to protect skin from UVA and UVB rays. Boots says the cream "visibly reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles for smoother and younger-looking skin."

But Medik8 shoppers have not held back with their positive feedback for the Advanced Pro-Collagen+ Peptide Cream, with one reviewer saying: "My fine lines on my upper cheeks and around my mouth have definitely reduced. When I saw the product advertised I thought “Oh, another line reducing cream!” And although I was sceptical I purchased the item and after using it for just over a weeks, along with the recommended other products for day and night, I can honestly say Advanced Pro-Collagen + Peptide Cream does work.

"The texture is creamy and melts into the skin perfectly and I am amazed how well my skin is looking now. AND, the price- is also magical. I recommend readers try the product, they won’t lose their money. A wonderful working product Medik8, thank you."

Someone else said: "I’m one week in and love, love love this product. I’m using it as part of my Medik8 skin care regime, and definitely seeing positive results. My fine lines appear reduced and my skin feels so soft and hydrated. I’ve used the cream on my neck and décolletage and noticed a significant improvement."

A third customer said: "I have quite a comprehensive routine of Medik8 products which are helping reduce lines and wrinkles on my face as I age. This is a brand new addition to their range and as usual I took advice on whether to add it or replace something else with it in my daily regime. It is amazing.

There were slight drawbacks for some, with one person noting: "I rarely breakout and ended up with a blemish after using the product for about 2 weeks. Otherwise the moisture level is amazing for my super dry skin!".

While another person said as part of their four-star review: "I have combination acne prone skin and it did not break out my skin. Although I didn’t see a huge improvement in my fine lines, I did feel that my skin is generally healthier and looks more plump. I wish it came with a spatula but I still like the luxurious packaging and am really enjoying the cream."
