Adapting wardrobes as seasons change means packing away summer clothes and double checking footwear can weather those rainier, colder days. Debenhams has a stylish but functional pair of trainers that are also discounted by 50% online.
The Skechers ULTRA FLEX 3.0 Fixed Laced Slip-Ins Mauve are priced at £44.50, reduced from £89, a half price saving for shoppers. These trainers are designed for movement, but the mauve, knitted fabric gives them a softer edge to standard sportswear.
Combining slip-on convenience with the look of a lace-up, the trainers have fixed laces - so wearers get the visual structure of laces without having to tie them. The upper fabric of the shoe is stretchy and breathable, adapting to the foot in a sock-like way, so it might even feel like leaving the house in the comfort of a pair of stylish slippers.
As a muted shade, these mauve trainers work perfectly with slim black or stone trousers and a crisp white shirt, with the clean lines stopping the look from feeling overly casual while the trainers keep it cool. They come in sizes three through to eight and are a bigger fit, Debenhams says.
If there's a chill, pair them with a fine-knit jumper and a trench. They are described as being ideal for 'gym sessions, casual outings, or running errands', so are perfect for those on-the-go days.
When it comes to colour pairings, mauve works well with muted greens, navy and soft greys. Pair them with a midi skirt or wide leg trousers with a tucked-in tee for a casual but stylish feel.
Footwear fashionistas may prefer something in suede, with New Look offering the Red Faux Suede Panelled Contrast Trim Trainers for £32.99. These red and pink lace-up trainers embody sporty style and have a panelled, thick sole. They also say they are registered by The Vegal Society and completely animal free.
Coming in at a higher price is the New Balance 327 Shoes women's shoes, which cost £110. These are said by New Balance to shed 'new light on the ‘70s as a time of innovation by boldly reshaping classic design elements with a thoroughly contemporary outlook'. With a reworking of a classic wedge silhouette they are a running trainer re-imagined but they do run large, so shoppers should size down.
While shoppers on Debenhams haven't left any reviews, on Skechers there are plenty to go through.
Out of 1253 reviews, 1005 are five-star, with one person saying: "I have them in just about every color, LOVE them!!". Another shopper, who liked them so much they bought a second pair, said: "You don't have to break these in. Put them out of the box and you are ready to go!".
While a third person said: "This is a back up pair to the first pair I got for our trip to Spain. These ended up being the shoes I wore most of the time. I got them for walking, but they have a nice design and stylish silhouette so felt like I could wear them with most anything. They are super comfortable and my feet never ached even after walking all day. Bought another pair in a different color. Hope this stylish design is always around."
One customer had an ask for Skechers writing: "I always purchase Sketchers as my go-to walking and casual shoes. I really like this style, very cute with the tied look. Unfortunately, I wear a wide width and can only find one or two colors available. I like that they stretch in the toe box which makes walking more comfortable. If this and other styles would be available in wide width, I would purchase more often. Please make more colors available to us who love Sketchers but have a wide toe box."
Someone else said: "When these shoes arrived, the color was much brighter than what I saw on the nternet. I will still wear them but was hoping for a color more muted."
