Hollywood director Tim Burton and beloved model and actress Monica Bellucci have separated, the former couple announced in a shared statement. They explained: "It is with much respect and deep care for each other that Monica Bellucci and Tim Burson have decided to part ways." The couple started dating back in October 2023, with Monica, 60, stepping into a role on Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice.

Tim, known for his gothic films such as Edward Scissorhands and Corpse Bride, was last seen with Monica at the 21st Marrakech International Film Festival in November 2024. A few weeks before the festival, Monica publicly supported Tim when he was honoured with a star. She was accompanied by his close friends Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder, who had worked with him on many projects, and gave heartfelt speeches on the monumental day.

In 2023, Monica opened up about her relationship with the director in an interview with Harper's Bazaar España. The star gushed over their romance in the glossy fashion magazine, saying: "I found in Tim [Buton] a wonderful spirit. I met a spectacular soul."

She previously told Elle France: "What can I say... I'm glad I met the man, first of all. It's one of those encounters that rarely happens in life... I know the man, I love him, and now I'm going to meet the director, another adventure begins."

Monica previously dated Nicolas Lefebvre before their split in 2019. She was also married to French actor Vincent Cassel between 1997 and 2013. The former couple met in 1996 on the set of Gilles Mimouni's film, l'Appartment. They share daughters Deva, who was born in 2004, and Leonie, who arrived in 2010.

Meanwhile, Tim was famously married to Helena Bonham Carter, with whom he worked on Planet of the Apes in 2001, Corpse Bride and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in 2005, and Sweeney Todd: The Deamon Barber of Fleet Street in 2007. They also worked together on Dark Shadows (2012), Alice in Wonderland (2010), and its sequel Alice Through The Looking Glass (2016).

The couple were married for 13 years but went their separate ways back in 2014. Tim and Helena share a son together called Billy, 20, and a daughter called Nell, 16. Helena previously discussed her separation from Tim.

Speaking to Harper's Bazaar in 2016, Helena said: "You go through massive grief - it is a death of a relationship, so it's utterly bewildering. Your identity, everything changes. Just saying: I'm not myself at the moment, so be careful. Everyone always says you have to be strong and have a stiff upper lip, but it's okay to be fragile."
