Rod Stewart fans were left emotional as the hitmaker shared a huge announcement about his wife, Penny Lancaster, online. On Thursday (September 18), the Do Ya Think I’m Sexy hitmaker took to his Instagram Story to share his wife’s achievements online alongside a loved-up snap of him and his wife with the first copy of her autobiography.

He wore a black patterned suit, which he teamed with a white dress shirt, a cravat, and Derby jazz shoes. Meanwhile, his other half opted for a matching camel suit and minidress, which she layered on top of a white collared shirt. She elevated her ensemble with a pair of leopard-print high heels and added a gold pendant necklace.

The former model styled her golden tresses into loose beachy waves as she beamed to the camera alongside her proud husband. She captioned the post: “Precious memories – so proud to share this special moment of seeing my published book for the first time, with my wonderful hubby, Sir Rod Stewart. OUT SEPTEMBER 25TH.”

It didn’t take long before her famous friends and loyal legion of fans flooded the comments to pass on their well-wishes online. Davina McCall simply shared a series of applause emojis as another fan penned: “Congratulations, Penny. I'm looking forward to reading [heart emoji, applause emoji].”

A third echoed: “Look at you two. So gorgeous! I can’t wait to get my hands on your book. Congratulations, my friend!” The Loose Women star’s brutally honest book certainly doesn’t shy away from difficult topics, with the broadcaster opening up about a series of sexual assaults from childhood into her teenage years.

The 54-year-old has spoken for the first time about her experiences in her memoir Someone Like Me, including giving details on an attack at 17 in which she believes she was drugged by a fashion designer.

Penny told the Daily Mail about its contents in a promotional interview ahead of its release, revealing how repeated encounters with predatory men left her traumatised.

The Mail reports her memoir “starts with her fearing the sound of footsteps” as when Penny was aged just five, a man tried to abduct her in his car as she played in her garden.

Thankfully, her father later caught him and “taught that guy a lesson he’d never forget”. At the age of 12, she was assaulted in an underpass by a man who grabbed her from behind as she walked alone to school.

Penny managed to break free, and after police asked her to help identify her attacker, they arrested the wrong man, and her attacker was never apprehended. The Mail said her resulting trauma sparked hyperhidrosis, which makes her hands and feet drip with sweat when anxious.
