Amy Blanc Lacy, a beloved member of The Walking Dead family, where she worked as a veteran script supervisor on the acclaimed horror series, has died aged 62. It has been reported that she died from injuries sustained in an alleged hit-and-run incident in Atlanta, US, earlier this month. According to the Atlanta Police Department, a man has since been charged with homicide by vehicle in her death. The tragic collision took place on Labour Day, September 1, while Lacy was a passenger in a Toyota Prius.

Police report that 31-year-old Buck Rollins was travelling at more than 90 mph in a 45 mph zone when he lost control of his Hyundai Elantra and collided with the Prius at an intersection. Rollins allegedly left the scene before later turning himself in to the Fulton County Jail. There he was charged with first-degree homicide by vehicle, hit and run, reckless driving and speeding.

The police revealed that Lacy was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where she died from her injuries on September 5, four days after the incident.

Two other people who were in the Prius with her, including a 23-year-old male driver and a 25-year-old male passenger, were also injured and treated at the hospital.

A Facebook post by Lacy’s niece, Erin Haley, identified the men as Lacy’s sons, Adrian and Oliver, and said both were “treated for minor injuries and have been discharged".

Haley’s post detailed that Lacy had "sustained serious injuries to her brain and spinal cord. She went into a coma and was placed on a ventilator. After much consideration and consultation with medical professionals, the heart-wrenching decision to remove life-sustaining support was made by her children and loved ones, in accordance with Amy’s wishes."

According to Deadline, Lacy was credited as a script supervisor for more than 135 episodes of AMC’s The Walking Dead from 2011 to 2020. The series's showrunner, Scott M. Gimple, shared tributes to Lacy on X, calling her " a singsong rhyme of a human being.”

In the lengthy tribute accompanied by photos, he added: "She knew fun was the secret to many things, and she lived it. She made me laugh and smile, and I am so heartbroken to lose her, so grateful to have known her, and so lucky to have been hugged by her. Amy Lacy forever."

Khary Payton, who starred in The Walking Dead as King Ezekiel, honoured his late colleague on Instagram and alongside a photo of them hugging, he penned: "Amy. You’ve always been an angel,” he wrote. “I’ll be looking for you in all the little beautiful things. Love and miss you."

Lacy began her career in the early 1990s, working on TV series and miniseries including In the Heat of the Night, From the Earth to the Moon and SeaQuest 2032 and such features as Something to Talk About, Rosewood and The Neon Bible.
