Beach Holidays

Cornwall has no shortage of family-friendly beaches with golden sand and blue water. However, it also boasts hidden bays that are popular with adventure lovers looking for more secluded spots. One lesser-known beach that's only accessible at low tide is Rinsey Cove, found along the South West Coast Path.

Preparation is key for anyone planning to visit the beach, which is accessed by rocks. However, for people keen to explore the coast, it could be well worth the effort to enjoy the stunning views.

The National Trust page for Rinsey and Trewavas says: "Positioned on the SW coast path, Rinsey and Trewavas boast views down to the Lizard Peninsula and West across Mounts Bay.

"Exploring Rinsey and Trewavas never disappoints; from spotting wildlife, watching the waves crash onto the beach or exploring the mining remains perched high on the cliffs."

Visitors should check tide times before visiting and take care along the coast. "Rinsey cove is a small and remote beach only accessible at low tide so make sure to check tide times before visiting," says the National Trust.

"Access down to the beach is via slippery rocks so be aware of the risk of rockfall in the area. Strong waves and currents with no lifeguard cover so take extra care if going in for a dip."

Rinsey Cove is a sandy beach with rockpools. It went viral on TikTok after social media user @mvaguex showcased a "10/10" rock pool in a video that earned over 50,000 likes. One amazed viewer said: "I don't believe this is in Cornwall."

A second said: "It's so pretty." A third wrote: "All I can say is wow." A fourth replied: "I've been there it's so nice." Someone else replied: "I've been there it's 10/10 but freezing." Another fan replied: "I go there all the time it's so nice there." A viewer added: "Omg so beautiful I could swim in that right now." Someone echoed: "Beautiful view."

The beach also earned high praise from Explore Cornwall, with a reviewer commenting: "A quiet, remote beach in a hidden cove with golden sand, rockpools and stunning views of the heritage coastline."

Commenting on the blog post, another impressed visitor added: "Beautiful natural small beach cove. The sand was very low when we went beginning of June so the drop from the rocks to the beach was high…slippy to get back up. Steep rocky paths for access down but the less accessible is what .makes this cove more beautiful and untouched.

"Tides when we went were low early morning and before sunset…amazing sunset views from the paths and the wheal prosper mine. The cove has a lovely fresh water cave…water pools of icy fresh water trickling from the cliff rocks. The sand has reminants of copper that glistens with the crushed shell white sands."
