The incident took place just after lunchtime on Saturday, September 6, at a well-known South Indian restaurant on Northenden Road in Sale. According to Greater Manchester Police, at least eight people were treated for what were described as 'minor reactions'.
One individual, however, reportedly suffered more severe symptoms. Emergency medical teams treated several diners on-site, and the scene remained active for several hours as investigations continued.

A significant number of emergency vehicles, including fire engines and police cars, were seen lining the street outside the restaurant.
Northenden Road was temporarily cordoned off as crews assessed the situation. Authorities ruled out the possibility of a gas leak, which had initially been suspected.
