Trains are a great transport option for multiple people. While they're a lot more environmentally friendly compared to options like flying or driving, they also give you the opportunity to enjoy the nature that surrounds the area you're travelling through that you otherwise wouldn't get the opportunity to see.
While it might not seem that special to see the natural environment where you live, it can be an amazing experience to go and explore nature in a new country. After all, there is always so much to see and learn when you visit somewhere new.
This is why people were amazed to learn about one specific train that travels through the snowy Swiss Alps with floor to ceiling windows that gives you the perfect opportunity to enjoy the views while travelling. It truly shows how amazing and beautiful train journeys can be.
Holidaymaker Eveline often takes to social media to document the different trains she travels on, and has hailed this Swiss train "the most scenic" train route in the world. When you see footage of it, you'll understand why.
"Want to ride the most magical train in December? Then now is the time to book! It sells out fast!" she wrote in the caption of the TikTok video.
The video showed her view from the train which overlooked the snowy Swiss Alps as they travelled through the mountains - often literally as they passed through tunnels.
"POV: it's December and you took the train from Switzerland to Italy," Eveline wrote on the video as she continued to show the interior of the train, which featured floor to ceiling windows for passengers to fully take in the surroundings they were travelling through.
She went on to reveal: "This is the Bernina Express and it will take you on a scenic ride through glaciers and palms, parts of the route is an UNESCO heritage."
The train travels between the Swiss city of Chur, located in the Alps, and travels down to the city of Tirano in northern Italy, but makes several stops along the way.
The journey takes about four-and-a-half hours, but passengers have access to unlimited entertainment simply by looking out of the window to enjoy the snowy mountains they travel through. And, if you travel during the winter months, you'll also be going through the snowy forests that look like an idyllic winter wonderland.
The full four-and-a-half-hour train journey costs about 66CHF (£61) per person for standard seats, or 113 CHF (£104) for first class seating. But Eveline said you can easily cut this cost in half by getting off at one of the earlier stops.
"Or travel with an interrail pass and then you only need to book a seat for 32 CHF in first class," she said.
You need to make sure you book your train tickets from the right website though, or you might end up travelling on the route on a "normal" train without the larger windows.
People quickly took to the comments to share their amazement, with many saying they were desperate to travel on the train. "Omg this is a dream," one person wrote, while another person said: "Omg, this is like a movie."
Someone else shared: "Me and my hubby travelled on the Bernina Express last month it was stunning. Window shopped in St Moritz - such a beautiful part of the world and not far from Italy."
Another person said: "I did this and it was stunning, but don’t pay so much for the Berninia - just get the normal train. The Bernina was just and the end of our normal train carriage, so it was a lot cheaper!!"
