True crime enthusiasts are in for a treat with Netflix's latest addition to its Monster franchise, reports the Mirror.
The new limited series, Monster: The Ed Gein Story, is the brainchild of Ryan Murphy, creator of American Horror Story and American Crime Story, and Ian Brennan of The Watcher fame. The series delves into the gruesome life of real-life serial killer and grave robber Ed Gein, also known by his terrifying aliases 'the Butcher of Plainfield' or 'the Plainfield Ghoul'.
Netflix has recently unveiled a trailer for the upcoming series. This chilling drama follows the success of Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, which became one of Netflix's most-watched shows ever, and Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
Here's everything you need to know about this spine-chilling new series, which Netflix promises will "unmask the origins of modern horror" this autumn.

Netflix is set to release Monster: The Ed Gein Story worldwide on October 3.
All episodes of the new series will be available to binge-watch immediately upon release.
Speaking about the upcoming series, Murphy revealed his fascination with the lesser-known killer and body snatcher, describing it as a "creative tailwind".
Brennan, who penned the entire series, shared his excitement with Netflix's Tudum, stating: "I think this is the best season of the three, and I think it's going to blow people's socks off."
He continued to tell the outlet: "Ed Gein's fairly obscure. It's this man who lived in a farmhouse and didn't know very many people, and you're watching his descent into deep, deep madness and then ultimately into killing people.
"That seemed like a big ask for a show that has been quite popular. Is that too much to ask of a global audience?"
Monster: The Ed Gein Story boasts a stellar ensemble cast headed by British Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam in the titular role.
He's joined by The Idol's Suzanna Son as Adeline Watkins, Pride and Prejudice star Tom Hollander as Alfred Hitchcock, Desperately Seeking Susan actress Laurie Metcalf as Ed's mother Augusta Gein, Phantom Thread's Vicky Krieps as Ilse Koch, and Rushmore performer Olivia Williams as Alma Reville.
Additional cast members feature Love, Simon's Joey Pollari as Psycho star Anthony Perkins, Perry Mason's Tyler Jacob Moore as Sheriff Schley, Monsters veteran Charlie Hall as Deputy Worden, The OA's Will Brill as Tobe Hooper, In the Loop's Mimi Kennedy as Dr. Mildred Newman, Deadwood performer Robin Weigert as Enid Watkins, and Another Year's Lesley Manville as Bernice Worden.
The series chronicles the life and horrific crimes of murderer Ed Gein, who carried out his killing spree throughout the 1940s and 1950s in Wisconsin. Nevertheless, the programme not only recounts these appalling cases, but provides understanding into how the Gein affair stunned America and influenced horror tales across the nation.
Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, Thomas Harris' novel The Silence of the Lambs alongside Jonathan Demme's 1991 cinematic version, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre were all influenced by the Gein case.
From his complicated and mutually dependent bond with his mother to his ghastly offences, these particulars have transformed into legendary components of Hollywood terror.
Even Murphy's American Horror Story: Asylum drew influence from the Gein affair, with the character Dr. Oliver Thredson reflecting the actual murderer.
Murphy remarked about the forthcoming programme: "[Gein] is probably one of the most influential people of the 20th century, and yet people don't know that much about him.
"He influenced some of the biggest serial killers of the 20th century - which is another thing that I think people did not and do not know about him - Ted Bundy, and on and on and on."
Monster: The Ed Gein Story represents merely one of three programmes concerning the killer this year.
In May, MGM+ released Psycho: The Lost Tapes of Ed Gein, which presents the previously unheard recordings of the grave robber and serial killer, providing glimpses into his twisted psyche.
Meanwhile, one week following Netflix's release, Crime+Investigation will launch Ed Gein: Original Psycho. The true crime documentary will span two episodes, delving into the initial three-day police investigation into Gein.
It will feature transcripts, previously unseen archive footage and historical collections related to the infamous murderer.
Monster: The Ed Gein Story will be released on Netflix on October 3
