Fashion designer and billionaire Giorgi Armani has died at the age of 91. His company has confirmed the sad news as tributes flood in for the fashion icon. He spent a brief stint in hospital earlier this year, forcing him to miss the Armani shows at Milan Fashion Week for the first time in the label’s history.
His company and family released a statement on Thursday (September 4), which read: "In this company, we have always felt like part of a family. Today, with deep emotion, we feel the void left by the one who founded and nurtured this family with vision, passion, and dedication. But it is precisely in his spirit that we, the employees and the family members who have always worked alongside Mr. Armani, commit to protecting what he built and to carrying his company forward in his memory, with respect, responsibility, and love.”
Armani told The Guardian in January 2025: “Age is undoubtedly a factor to contend with” but said he would “continue as long as my health and energy permit”, admitting “taking a step back in the near future” would be “inevitable”.
