The brother of Denmark's King Frederik X has allowed cameras behind the scenes at his private family home to film a reality TV series. Schackenborg Castle in Møgeltønder acted as one of the filming locations for an episode of the TV2 show Farmer Looking for Love.
A post on the Castle's Instagram account read: "We've been keeping a secret... Constitution Day set Schackenborg in the frame for a very special visit from @tv2playdk & TV2, where they recorded Farmer looking for love. Here - in the middle of the historical setting and adventurous surroundings - TV2 had spotted the perfect place for a romantic date."
Prince Joachim has lived in the castle since 1993 and now holidays there with his wife, Princess Marie of Denmark, and four children.
The castle dates back to the 1660s and belonged to the von Schack family for eleven generations before reverting back to the Danish Royal Family again in 1978.
The estate was Prince Joachim's private residence from 1993 to 2014. He lived on the estate with his first wife, Alexandra, Countess of Frederiksborg, and their two sons, Count Nikolai, 26, and Count Felix, 23, during their childhood.
Prince Joachim married for a second time in 2008 and his wedding was held nearby the castle at Møgeltønder Church.
Joachim and Maria welcomed two children after their wedding, Count Henrik and Countess Athena of Monpezat.
The family has been the subject of much talk over the last few years as Joachim's mother, Queen Margrethe, stripped her grandchildren of their Princely titles.
As a result, his four children went from being Princes and a Princess of Denmark, to Counts and a Countess of Monpezat.
Speaking of his mother's decision, Joachim told B.T.: "I can say that my children are sad. My kids don’t know which leg to stand on. What they should believe. Why should their identity be removed? Why must they be punished in that way?"
Brittani Barger, deputy editor at Royal Central, previously said: "There’s clear bitterness after his children were stripped of their Highness styles and Prince/Princess titles. Joachim has made his opinions on that clear."
