Loose Women panellist Jane Moore has questioned Prince Harry's return to the UK as she claimed the royal is making a "big song and dance" about his impending arrival. The Duke of Sussex, 40, will support the WellChild children's charity on September 8. Prince Harry, who resides in California with his wife Meghan Markle, 44, is a long-standing patron of the charity. He has held the role for 17 years and has attended the awards ceremony 14 times before. Harry was last seen in the UK back in May after losing a long-running battle with the Home Office over changes to his security arrangements.
Jane, 63, has since addressed Harry's return to the UK amid claims the Duke of Sussex could see his father King Charles III, for the first time in 19 months. Meanwhile, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and the couple's children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will remain at home in California, it is understood.
Writing in her latest column for The Sun, Jane called into question the purpose of Harry publicising his upcoming trip to the UK amid security fears.
She wrote: "Begging the question: Why make a song and dance about it? After all, if you fear for your safety, wouldn’t you just fly in quietly and make a surprise appearance rather than publicise it in advance?
Particularly when you’ve spent the last two years telling anyone who’ll listen that you’re a primary target for every bad person in the world."
The 2025 award marks three years to the day that Queen Elizabeth II, the duke's grandmother, died at her home in Balmoral.
Harry said in a statement: "I am always privileged to attend the WellChild Awards and meet the incredible children, families and professionals who inspire us all with their strength and spirit.
"For 20 years, these awards have highlighted the courage of young people living with complex health needs and shone a light on the devoted caregivers - family and professionals - who support them every step of the way.
"Their stories remind us of the power of compassion, connection and community."
It comes amid reports Harry could reconcile with his father King Charles.
In May, Harry spoke of his anguish over the broken-down relationship with the King, after losing his legal challenge to retain police protection while in the UK.
He said he “would love a reconciliation” with his family but added the King “won’t speak to me because of this security stuff".
