Former Great British Bake Off judge Mary Berry is showing no signs of slowing down despite turning 90 this year. While now would be the perfect time to rest and step aside from work commitments, Mary's schedule appears to be as busy as ever.
Her latest ventures include the release of her latest cookbook, Mary 90, which features some of her best-loved recipes.
The book will be accompanied by a six-part BBC series of the same name, airing this autumn.
Additionally, she will be embarking on a UK tour, with events scheduled in Henley and Winchester next month.
Addressing why she won't be retiring anytime soon, the Dame shared with Yours Magazine: "I'm very privileged to still be doing the job that I love.
"And I really don't think about how old I am. I keep busy because that's what I like to do.
"I'm not keen on lounging around at home and doing nothing. There's plenty of time to rest in heaven."
Mary’s 90th birthday was celebrated with a special episode of The One Show dedicated to her.
During the show, she received heartfelt messages from many celebrities as well as the Royal Family's Prince William.
Mary has often spoken about how she's stayed fit and healthy over the years.
The former Great British Bake Off star advocates for home-cooked, wholesome meals made with fresh ingredients.
She also believes in moderation rather than restriction when it comes to enjoying treats like cakes.
Mary additionally prefers seasonal produce and tries to maintain a varied diet to get all necessary nutrients.
Portion control is also something Mary is mindful of, and she has often stressed the importance of listening to our bodies, rather than overeating.
As well as this, the chef stays active through walking consistently and playing croquet, though ensures this is balanced with plenty of rest.
Mary's latest interview comes as the new series of The Great British Bake Off returns to screens.
The 90-year-old left show after seven years back in 2016 when it moved from the BBC to Channel 4.
In a statement at the time, she said: "My decision to stay with the BBC is out of loyalty to them, as they have nurtured me, and the show, that was a unique and brilliant format from day one."
"What a privilege and honour it has been to be part of seven years of magic in a tent. "Farewell to soggy bottoms."
Mary was replaced by Dame Prue Leith, who continues to judge the show alongside Paul Hollywood.
Hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins also didn't make a comeback when the show switched channels, and were instead replaced by Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig. The current hosts include Noel and Alison Hammond, who replaced Matt Lucas in 2023.
The Great British Bake Off returns tonight at 8pm on Channel 4.
