A teenager has been arrested after a 12 year old boy died after falling from a playground roundabout. Logan Carter suffered fatal injuries when he fell from the apparatus at Wharton Recreation Ground in Winsford, Cheshire, on Friday (August 29).
Officers were called to the rec near Ledward Street at about 6.11pm by the North West Ambulance Service and found the boy seriously injured. The youngster was treated in the park by paramedics but he died at the scene.
Cheshire Police said on Monday (September 1) that a boy, 13, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. The teenager was later released under investigation. It believed that an e-bike wheel had been used to spin the roundabout.
In a statement released by Cheshire Police yesterday, his heartbroken family paid tribute to "a little boy who was so full of life".
The family said: "Logan was a much-loved son, brother, grandson, great-grandson, cousin and friend to many.
"He had an infectious personality and a beautiful smile. Everyone wanted to be where Logan was. He was a little boy who was so full of life and wanted to make everyone laugh. He made every day worth living.
"Logan was everyone's therapy person, their calm and he will be missed more than we can ever put into words.
"We are taking comfort from the words of support we have received whilst we take time to come to terms with the untimely loss of our blue-eyed boy."
A Liverpool jersey and balloons have been left at the park as tributes to Logan from family and locals.
A GoFundMe page has seen over £14,000 pledged in donations to support Logan's relatives.
His dad, Rob Carter, has told other parents to hold their kids close and tell them every day how much they are loved.
The grieving father paid tribute to his son in a string of moving posts on social media. He said: "When I woke up on Friday my little mate I didn't think that would be the last time I get to see you.
"My mate, my heart has been ripped in two I will never forget you my mate sleep tight up there. I'll see you one day at them gates mate love you so much Logan, forever 12."
Logan's family is being supported by specialist officers, according to Cheshire Police. Officers have urged witnesses or anyone with useful information to contact them via the force's website or on 101, quoting IML-2165641.
