Former Channel 4 stars Dick and Angel Strawbridge have been inundated with messages from their followers as they issued an emotional announcement online. The couple continue to update fans about their lives in France, despite their series Escape to the Chateau coming to an end in 2022. The pair tied the knot at their home in 2015 and share two children; Arthur, 12, and 11-year-old Dorothy. Taking to Instagram, the proud parents marked Dorothy's first day of senior school, admitting they had tears in their eyes as they waved goodbye to their daughter.
Alongside a snap of Dorothy, the couple penned: "Hello to you on this marvellous Monday! It’s a very special day for our family as we head into a new era.. Dorothy had her first day of senior school.. there was of course the normal nerves.. and as we said our goodbyes it hit home.. no matter what age.. it really does not get any easier!"
They expressed concern about how Dorothy was doing throughout the day, but their worries were eased when they saw the huge smile on her face afterwards.
The pair added: "We (us parents) both had tears in our eyes.. worried all day… but when we picked up our gorgeous young lady, she was smiling from ear to ear!"
"Tomorrow.. Arthur joins Dorothy for his first day in ‘cinquième’ and a new era truly begins! For everyone having their first day back to school .. have fun and embrace every moment and for the mums and dads.. big love!"
Fans were filled with emotion as they flocked to the comments, with one writing: "I remember watching her first day in nursery on the series. Look at her now [red heart emoji]."
A second shared: "Your little girl is growing up too fast. Only seems like yesterday she was walking into nursery and Angel was crying."
Another echoed: "Only seems like yesterday you and Dick were dropping her off on her first day of school." They followed this up with a crying and red heart emoji.
A fourth chimed in: "Ah I can't believe how the time has flown.. she was a little baby not that long ago when you got the chateau."
It comes after the couple turned up at the The Kyle and Jackie O Show studio unexpectedly, leaving presenter Kyle Sandilands visibly emotional.
"Oh my goodness! I can't believe it," he declared, confessing he felt like he was "going to cry" before embracing the duo warmly. "Sorry, but I love your TV show... this is the best day ever."
Jackie was equally astonished by her co-host's response, informing listeners: "Kyle has met a million celebrities, but never have I seen him react like this."
