BBC's 1990s costume drama has left viewers captivated, following their enjoyment of another period piece and a wartime drama, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The series was a sensation when it first aired, creating a buzz in both the US and the UK.

Audiences have showered the series with praise on IMDb, with one viewer giving it a perfect 10/10 rating and labelling it as a "timeless drama".

The user further explained: "Completely addictive story of two sisters who start their own fashion house in London in the 1920's.

"I rented the series because, like so many girls, dreamed of being a fashion designer (along with ballerina, president and actress). What I found however, was a solid story of entrepreneurship that would be inspiring to any woman in business."

Another reviewer, who also gave the show a 10/10, expressed their love for the series and praised the programme: "Best series show I've seen in a long long time. The story as well as the cast were first class."

A third top-rated review described the show as "delightful" and recommended: "I recommend this dramatic series about two sisters who create a fashion business in 1920's London.

"My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the cast of characters whose fortunes wax and wane against a believable backdrop of history. We were emotionally engaged with these characters in a really satisfying way, much like reading a favorite book [sic]."

One audience member praised it as a "great period drama", explaining: "I have revisited this series many times. Well worth a watch if you like period drama. You will want to follow Evie and Beatrice on their ups and downs. Great writing from Jean Marsh and Dame Eileen Atkins."

Another viewer described the show as "simply irresistible" and commended its authenticity, stating it was as "true to the time period as possible".

A fan expressed how watching the series "felt like you were in the 1920s", adding: "Designers on this show - costumes, sets, locations, cars, antiques, etc, must have felt like they'd died and gone to heaven. It was such a beautiful age."

The House of Eliott first graced our screens in 1991, conceived by actresses Jean Marsh and Dame Eileen Atkins, who also created Upstairs, Downstairs.

The narrative centred around sisters Beatrice (portrayed by Stella Gonet) and Beatrice (Louise Lombard), who establish a fashion house in the 1920s after being left penniless due to their father's debt.

The cast also featured Aden Gillett, Cathy Murphy, Judy Flynn, Victoria Alcock, Stephen Churchett, Bill Thomas, and Barbara Jefford, among others.

Viewers eagerly tracked the siblings' journey as they faced adversity and ultimately flourished.

The period drama aired for three seasons until 1994 when it was unexpectedly cancelled, but continues to receive acclaim from viewers to this day.
