Former US President Bill Clinton has sparked fears that his health may be deteriorating, after he was spotted travelling with a Defibrillator while leaving the Hamptons earlier this week.
The 79 year old Democrat, who was holidaying with his wife Hillary, 77, was spotted carrying a Propaq MD Air Medical Bag - a lightweight transport monitor and defibrillator - at the airport on Thursday.
The high-tech device provides advanced monitoring and resuscitation capabilities, allowing for shocks to be given should an abnormal heart rhythm be detected.
The Former President has a long standing history of heart problems, and previously suffered a heart attack back in 2004 which required him to undergo a quadruple bypass procedure after it was discovered he had an almost 100 per cent blockage of his arteries.
Yet despite sparking concerns on Thursday, Clinton appeared to be high spirits as he concluded his holiday, having been spotted wearing a blue jacket and tan hat as he exited a vehicle before boarding a plane accompanied by his security team.
Once considered to be one of the most powerful politicians on the planet during his time in office, Clinton has always been well known for his vibrancy, however in recent years this appears to have diminished, with the former world leader having noticeably aged in the post-covid era.
Last year, shortly before Christmas, he was hospitalised at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC after suffering from a particularly nasty bout of flu, and spent a night under the supervision of medical staff for a fever, before being discharged on Christmas Eve.
In a statement released at the time, Angel Urena, Clinton's former deputy chief of staff, said: “President Clinton was discharged earlier today after being treated for the flu.”
“He and his family are deeply grateful for the exceptional care provided by the team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and are touched by the kind messages and well wishes he received.”
“He sends his warmest wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season to all.”
Prior to this, Clinton also suffered from a worrying urological infection in 2021, which saw him hospitalised after the infection spread to his blood stream.
He also suffered another cardiac scare back in 2010, when he was taken to the Vivian and Seymour Milstein Family Heart Center of Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan, the same hospital that had performed his bypass, to have a stent fitted after suffering from chest discomfort.
