Beer enthusiasts will be thrilled to hear that a study has pinpointed the location of the world's cheapest pint.

Unfortunately for Brits, the UK's most affordable city for a brew was all the way in 99th place. This is in Nottingham, where a pint will set you back a reasonable £1.63.

However, on the continent, it's a completely different tale. Italy, Germany and Spain were identified as having the lowest prices for a bottle of beer, according to the team at Magnet Kitchens.

The study examined 190 cities using crowdsourced data from Numbeo on the cost of a bottle of beer in cities globally in 2024.

The top 10 was dominated by Germany, with Wandsbek in the north of the country being the tenth best-value. A bottle costs party-goers a remarkably low 74p.

Nuremberg, Bielefeld and Bremen tied at a penny less, whilst Zaragoza, in the northeast of Spain and known as the 'city of beer', offered an enticing 72p ale.

Four more German cities came in joint-second, with 71p bottles in Wuppertal, Bochum, Bochum-Hordel and Dresden. However, it was a coastal city in the south of Italy that took the top spot - where drinkers can enjoy a beer for as little as 65p.

According to Numbeo, beer in Taranto is a staggering 11.5 times cheaper than the world's most expensive - found in Darwin, Australia (£7.48).

It was the only Italian city to make the top 10, while the country's next-ranking town was Messina, a harbour city in the northeast of Sicily which placed 51st.

Taranto also secured a spot in the top 10 for the world's cheapest bottle of wine, ranking seventh with a price tag of just £3.87 - outdone only by Rome, where you can grab a bottle for a mere £2.80.

An impressive 20 German cities made it into the top 50 for beer, while for wine enthusiasts, eight locations in Germany also featured in the top 30 - including Bochum, where a bottle will cost you a modest £4.29.

Zaragoza was found to be more than twice as cheap as the priciest Spanish city, Cordoba, which charges £1.57 for a bottle of beer.

In total, 18 Spanish cities were listed in the top 50, with Las Palmas on the island of Gran Canaria, coming in second at 77p - narrowly missing out on a spot in the global top 10.
