A woman has died after being pulled from the water at a famous UK seaside resort, police have confirmed. Officers were called to Blackpool Promenade at around 10am this morning after reports that a woman had been rescued from the sea opposite the Belvedere Hotel, near the Blackpool Tower.

HM Coastguard and the town's beach patrol also responded to the incident, with locals spotting a large emergency services presence along the North Promenade. Lancashire Police confirmed that a woman in her thirties died after receiving treatment at the scene and in hospital following the incident. The force said her next of kin had been contacted and the death was not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson said: "We were called at about 10am today, August 25, following reports a woman had been pulled from the sea opposite the Belvedere Hotel at Blackpool.

"Despite the best efforts of emergency services at the scene and at the hospital, the woman sadly later died.

"Following enquiries, the woman, in her thirties, has now been identified and her next of kin has been informed. Our thoughts are with her loved ones.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner."

It comes months after the body of a man in his forties was also found dead along the famous seafront, with authorities rushing to the scene following reports of a sudden death on the promenade stretch.

He was pronounced dead at the scene on Saturday, June 21, and Lancashire Police confirmed that it was not being treated as a suspicious incident.

He was not named, and no further information was released.
