A beautiful village in the UK has been likened to Italy’s famous Amalfi Coast and it’s a place you won’t want to miss out on visiting. One person on TikTok who goes by the username of @cezandgas, said: “Would you believe me if I told you that this isn’t an Italian village, but it’s actually somewhere in the UK.”
The woman shows scenes of colourful Italian-style streets with bright architecture and perfectly arranged gardens. Brits can get the Italian experience without even leaving the country by making a trip to this fairytale part of Wales.
In her video, the woman says the place took nearly 50 years to build. She adds: “It honestly feels like walking through a storybook, it’s the perfect spot for summer photos, getting your steps in, or enjoying some delicious food.”
Historic UK says Portmeirion is unique: an Italian Riviera-inspired paradise, nestled on the Welsh coastline.
It was built in the early 1920s by architect Sir Bertram Clough Williams-Ellis and today, the village is full of aesthetic wonders, from its architecture to its gardens.
One person on Tripadvisor said: “Picturesque and charming. A great place to visit with views around every corner.
“Very reminiscent of the Amalfi Coast. Pleasant walk along the waterside back in to the village. Lots of steps and some stairs. Picnics allowed.”
Another penned: “Unique, stunning, unusual, friendly, basically worth a visit. The place is very well maintained and the photo opportunities are huge. Nice walk too along the estuary.”
To visit, you’ll have to pay an entry fee as the village is a closed-off attraction. Tickets are available in advance by purchasing online, or you can buy them from a toll booth on the day.
Ticket prices are £20 for an adult, £17.50 for seniors over 60 or students, and £13 for children aged five to 15. For children under five, entry is free.
If you’re looking for a unique part of the UK to visit, this is the spot for you this summer.
