Gardeners' World presenter Adam Frost has offered a candid glimpse into his marriage. The 55-year-old horticulturalist first met his wife Sulina during the 1990s.

The couple are believed to have wed soon afterwards and now have four children together - Abi-Jade, Jacob, Amber-Lily, and Oakley. Three years ago, Adam chose to reduce his workload following a diagnosis of depression and burnout. The family subsequently decided to leave their previous property, which boasted a four-acre garden, for a more manageable plot.

Adam discovered that maintaining the extensive grounds, whilst also operating a gardening school, proved "overwhelming". He now confesses his current home provides him with a sense of being "safe".

Throughout his career, Adam has earned seven gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show and secured a presenting role on Gardeners' World in 2016.

This represents a significant journey from his teenage years working in parks across North Devon. The television personality attributes much of his achievements to Sulina's support.

Speaking to Yours magazine, Adam, who has recently penned his fourth gardening book, revealed: "They always say behind every successful man is a strong woman. She's more than strong, she's a bit scary.

"The kids say she's a lioness. If you're unpleasant to me or the children, you end up with the wrath of Mrs Frost. We don't want to cross Mrs Frost."

Adam reveals his wife even takes charge in their garden, despite his own remarkable horticultural expertise.

Adam quips that many assume Sulina would "leave him to it" regarding their garden arrangements. However, whilst he relishes "gardening for wildlife" his spouse favours their patch to be considerably neater.

Adam reveals he recently found an evergreen specimen he believes should be left untouched, only to discover Sulina had "trimmed it back".

He quips that he appears like the "most experienced understudy in the country" regarding their own garden. Nevertheless, Adam acknowledges that "doing as he is told" is "pretty much" the key to their enduring marriage.

Adam also offered a glimpse into his bond with Gardeners' World presenter Monty Don, confessing he addresses him as "The Lordship". Despite the pair hailing from "different worlds", Adam concedes they function "as good as gold" together.

He reveals Monty, alongside former Gardeners' World host Alan Titchmarsh, have provided a "really good ear" as he charts his course through his career.

Whilst they rarely encounter each other during filming, Adam notes the trio frequently reunite at horticultural events nationwide.Adam will be making his comeback to Gardeners' World this evening (August 22).

He will be maintaining his mini-meadow and beginning to establish his autumn display. The programme will also feature Advolly Richmond following in the footsteps of legendary Vita Sackville-West.

Gardeners' World broadcasts at 8pm on BBC Two
