A man living at a hotel which has been a hotbed for protests, has been charged with multiple offences.
Mohammed Sharwarq is alleged to have committed two counts of common assault, four counts of assault by beating, and one count of sexual assault on a male between July 25 and August 12 .
Detectives have charged the 32-year-old Syrian national after being called to the Bell Hotel in Epping on Tuesday.
EssexLive understands the offences allegedly took place inside the hotel.
Sharwarq has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Wednesday (August 13). Officers are not looking for any other suspects in relation to the case.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said on Wednesday afternoon (August 13): "A man will appear in court today to face criminal charges after officers were called to the Bell Hotel on Epping High Road on Tuesday 12 August. A 32-year-old man was arrested and questioned.
"Mohammed Sharwarq, a Syrian national who resides at The Bell Hotel, Epping, has been charged with the following offences: two counts of common assault; four counts of assault by beating; one count of sexual assault on a male contrary to section 3 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
"The offences are alleged to have taken place between 25 July and 12 August. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court today, Wednesday 13 August.
"Officers are not currently seeking any other suspects in relation with this case."
