A beauty therapist has described a Medik8 serum as "unbelievable" due to its hydrating and anti-ageing properties. The Hydr8 B5 Intense is a hyaluronic acid serum enhanced with additional ingredients. The brand claims that it gets to work moisturising skin in 24 hours.

In a review on the Medik8 website, a beauty therapist said: "From a beauty therapist of 40 years, this product is unbelievable. So nourishing and anti-ageing, your skin will glow."

You can purchase a full-sized 30ml bottle for £59 or a travel-friendly 8ml size for £20. Yet, despite its high price tag, reviews have said it is "definitely worth the money." You can also buy the product on Sephora for the slightly cheaper price of £47.20 on sale.

The serum's primary ingredient is hyaluronic acid, but what sets it apart from other serums is the inclusion of glycerin, five different amino acids, lactic acid, and creatine, which the brand says aims to maximise hydration.

Medik8 recommends applying six drops to freshly cleansed skin morning and night. The product isn't just for the face but also for your neck and décolletage, reports the Mirror

In a review, a shopper said: "I couldn't live without this serum! It has become a staple in my routine, and the immediate effects are phenomenal. I love how quickly it absorbs into the skin, leaving it hydrated, feeling firm, plump and glowy!"

Another said: "Feels beautiful on the skin and settles quickly for the rest of the routine to be applied."

However, not everyone was impressed with the Hydr8 B5 Intense serum, with one person writing: "I think this is a mid product compared to others from Medik8. I didn't see lots of improvement, and I finished all the bottle. I think you can find better hydration serums for less money."

If you're not quite prepared to invest £50 in the Medik8 serum, you could alternatively pick up the La Roche-Posay Hyalu B5 Serum with Hyaluronic Acid instead. The serum costs £45 for a 30ml bottle, and features both hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 to moisturise and plump skin.

As an alternative, The Ordinary's Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 (with Ceramides) is ideal for those watching their pennies. A 30ml bottle costs just £8.80, while a larger 60ml bottle costs £15.50. It features five types of hyaluronic acid to help visibly plump and smooth skin, pro-vitamin B5 to seal in moisture, and ceramides to strengthen your skin barrier.
