Blackpool has been named one of the most affordable destinations in Europe, according to new research that pits the UK’s favourite seaside resorts against some of the continent’s biggest holiday hotspots. The study, carried out by credit card brand Aqua, analysed the cost of a one-week trip for two adults in 10 popular destinations, factoring in travel, accommodation, eating out, drinks, and local transport.
Blackpool came eighth overall in the rankings, with an average return travel cost of just £39.76, making it one of the cheapest to reach on the entire list. A week’s stay in three-star accommodation costs around £574, while an average dinner for two comes in at £14 per person. Visitors can expect to pay £3.25 for a pint and £2.20 for a single trip on local transport.
The seaside city was the only UK urban destination to make the top 10 alongside other affordable picks such as Budapest, Prague, and Porto.
The research found that London, by contrast, is Europe’s most expensive city break, with weekly accommodation for two averaging £1,241, dinners costing around £20 each, and pints priced at an eye-watering £6.20.
Blackpool’s ranking reflects its enduring appeal as a budget-friendly getaway, combining low costs with classic attractions.
