Former Emmerdale star Sebastian Dowling, who played Heath Hope on the long-running ITV soap for 17 years, has unveiled a dramatic transformation 18 months after his on-screen death. He left the show in a dramatic New Year's Eve storyline in 2023 when he was involved in a car crash with other teens from the village. His character didn't survive the smash, marking the end of his time on the soap, which he joined when he was just a baby.
He took to Instagram to showcase his post-soap look, which has seen him chop off his long blonde hair and hit the gym to undergo a body transformation. He shared some images of his new look, which he simply captioned: “Have you missed me?” One close-up shot showcased his dramatic hair overhaul. He is now sporting a short, tousled, dark look. A second image showed him posing topless in a mirror to show off his gym body.
It marked the first time he had posted to the social media platform in almost a year, and fans couldn't get over the change in his appearance.
Taking to the comments, one exclaimed: "Now this is what a ‘glow up’ looks like." Another added: "Holy c***, mans become hulk! looking great bro."
A third chimed in: "Wow, guy. All grown up and looking great. Still miss you on the show. Let us know what you up to now."
Meanwhile, a fourth exclaimed: "Wow, you look awesome there, Seb. Nice one there Mate!"
The horror car crash was presumed to have been caused by Heath's twin sister, Cathy, played by Sebastian's real-life twin Gabrielle.
However, it later emerged that Cathy had not been driving, and it was eventually proved that Angelica King (Rebecca Bakes) had been the one behind the wheel and responsible for Heath’s death.
The crash ultimately led to her exit, as she stood trial, charged with death by dangerous driving.
For the crime, she received an eight-month custodial sentence at a secure children's home. However, it is possible that she will return to the village when her sentence is served.
